Welcome to Heatherware

I make fearlessly colourful and bold decor to brighten up your home , your garden and your day!

I am a self taught artist and began painting on flowerpots as a hobby in 1988 after moving to Cairns from New Zealand. I started selling them at markets while working full time.

In 1996 painting became my full time occupation. I called my business Frantik Designs because I work at such a frantic pace. Over the years I have owned 2 retail shops and designed and created many products including chairs, tables, lamps, mirrors and clocks. I dabbled in a variety of mediums including wood, papier mache, upcycled furniture and painted tiles.

In 2007 I set up a home studio and focused on producing gifts and souvenirs for shops around Australia. I am best known for my hand painted tile coasters and my crazy cross-eyed emu.

Every item that I sell is an original, painted by me. I do not use any stencils, stickers, decals or digital enhancement in the production of my artwork. I just love to paint!

I was inspired to learn pottery in 2012, and I now produce my own wheelthrown functional pieces decorated in my trademark colours and style.

I’ve always loved pottery designs from the 1950’s and Mid Century Modern decor and my work is developing towards more of this style. This has led to the change of business name to Heatherware Pots with Flair.

Currently I work from my home studio in Townsville along with my husband Adrian. We sell online, through select stockists and direct from our studio outlet. On the weekends we can usually be found at local markets around Townsville.
